  5.        NTRoach - cockroaches hide under your windows

  7. SYNOPSIS
  8.        NTRoach [-hidden]

  10. DESCRIPTION
  11.        NTRoach is an adaptation to Windows NT of the popular 
  12.        X program, xroach.
  13.  
  14.        NTRoach displays disgusting cockroaches on your desktop.
  15.        As the original xroach man page states: "These creapy crawlies 
  16.        scamper around until they  find a  window to hide under. 
  17.        Whenever you move or iconify a window, the exposed orthopteras 
  18.        again scamper for cover."
  19.  
  20.        A technical problem in Windows NT prevents the roaches from
  21.        being alerted when a console window has moved, so they
  22.        will wisely not hide behind such windows.  Also, Windows NT 
  23.        icons are too small for the roaches to hide behind.  If your
  24.        desktop consists only of icons and console windows, the 
  25.        roaches will scamper indefinitely.  You may want to leave 
  26.        at least one small window open, so the roaches will be able 
  27.        to find some shelter.

  29. OPTIONS

  31.     Hiding and re-displaying the NTRoach icon:

  33.     By default, NTRoach will display an icon. You can hide
  34.     the icon either by starting NTRoach with the parameter
  35.     "-hidden", or by selecting  "Hide" from the NTRoach 
  36.     system-menu.  The icon will re-appear if another instance 
  37.     of NTRoach is started.

  39.     Settings:
  40.  
  41.     The "NTRoach Settings" Dialog Box allows you to specify 
  42.     the number, speed, and color of the roaches and roach guts.
  43.     If you save these settings, they will be placed in the 
  44.     System Registry under the key:
  45.  
  46.         \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freeware\NTRoach  
  47.  
  48.     NTRoach will revert to its original default values 
  49.     if you delete this key from the Registry.

  51.     Roach squishing:
  52.  
  53.     There were some technical problems in implementing squishing 
  54.     in Windows NT.  The original xroach could get mouse 
  55.     events in the root window even without being the active 
  56.     application. But in Windows NT, this does not appear to be 
  57.     possible.

  59.     Squishing was therefore implemented as follows: Squishing is 
  60.     enabled whenever "Squish ON" is selcted from the NTRoach 
  61.     system-menu. It is disabled when NTRoach looses focus, or if 
  62.     the mouse is clicked again over the NTRoach icon.

  64.     HINT: To enjoy squishing, iconize most of the windows 
  65.     before enabling squishing.  The roaches are too big to 
  66.     hide behind the icons. For an even bigger advantage, slow 
  67.     the roaches down before trying to squish them.  You can 
  68.     squish a roach with any mouse button.
